Lancashire Vs. Glamorgan LVCC day three.

Prince and Katich hit centuries as match heads for draw.

Ashwell Prince and Simon Katich both
hit centuries on the third day.
Ashwell Prince and Simon Katich were able to entertain the crowd, in spite of the sterile state of the game, as both batsmen hit hundreds on the third day of the championship match versus Glamorgan.

Closing on 93-0, Lancashire had given themselves a sturdy platform to build upon, but Karl Brown failed to add to his overnight score of 48 before playing-on to Graham Wagg, after the opener had faced 40 minutes without scoring.

This did however come shortly after Brown and Luis Reece recorded the highest opening partnership of the season, passing the 97 made against Worcestershire in the first fixture of the season.

Reece managed to better his former partner, by reaching 50 from 150 balls, his first half-century for Lancashire, but he was soon trapped LBW by Dean Cosker for 53.

After the sluggish start to the day, Prince injected a touch of vibrancy in to the innings, racing to a 50 of his own from 57 balls. The ever-dependable combination of Prince and Katich mounted a 157-run stand, the largest of the game so far, as Katich edged his way to a 118-ball half-century.

Prince brought up his first championship century of the season in style, smashing Cosker in to the pavilion for six, as the South-African reached three figures in just 123 deliveries.

He was therefore disappointed when he edged behind off Nathan McCullum on 113, as the former Lancashire player worked towards figures of 2-133. Andrea Agathangelou managed just 18 today, after he had guided Lancashire to victory in their last match versus Northamptonshire, also falling to the New Zealand all-rounder.

For much of the evening session Katich and his new partner, Luke Procter, enjoyed the bowling from a tiring Glamorgan attack, which featured a spell of spin bowling from pace-man Wagg.

Katich (115) reached a much calmer hundred from 217 balls, before the formerly mentioned spin of Wagg removed the Australian, as he was caught down the leg-side by captain Mark Wallace.

Procter (53*) managed to reach his second successive fifty as the third day came to its close, with Gareth Cross unbeaten on 10.
