Lancashire experience profitable 2013.

The redevelopment at Emirates Old Trafford is finally starting to pay off for Lancashire County Cricket Club.
Lancashire have announced an 'operating profit' of more than £3.5 million for 2013, after revenues of more than £19.1 million as Chairman, Michael Cairns, praises their new-found fiscal success as 'extremely satisfying.'

In the clubs annual report and financial statement for 2013, Cairns said:"After accounting for operating costs of £15.6 million this resulted in an operating profit of just in excess of £3.5 million," which will please the Lancashire faithful after a tough financial period.

Cairns went on to say that: "By doubling the revenue [from the previous year] the club has successfully turned a significant loss into a record profit by utilising the improved facilities and the staging of major international events."

Lancashire will now believe that they are reaping the benefits of the re-development of Emirates Old Trafford, after the process incurred a number of unexpected pitfalls.

In the 2011 report, Lancashire announced a loss of nearly £4 million, which had largely been due to the up-front cost of the redevelopment, as well as an ongoing battle to obtain planning permission for the reconstruction of their home ground.

But with The Point, the pavilion and new player/media facilities now fully operational, the club is finally being rewarded, with their tough financial times seemingly behind them.

The Lancashire chairman said that: Financially, 2013 was a record year in both revenue and profit terms and the club is now able to look forward with a stadium that will proudly stand alongside other international Test match venues throughout the world."

After four successive years of financial losses, the club were delighted by a record profit and are hopeful that this will be a sign of things to come.
