Lancashire end One-Day Cup with washout against Durham

Just seven overs were possible in Lancashire's final limited-overs match of the season, as their Royal London One-Day Cup game against Durham ended in a washout at Emirates Old Trafford.

Lancashire managed to score 39/0 in the seven overs that were bowled on a rain-affected day in Manchester, with Karl Brown (30*) and Alviro Petersen (8*) making a promising start after the game had been reduced to 24 overs per side when the match finally started at 6.15pm.

Coming into this match with no possibility of progressing to the quarter-finals, Ashley Giles' side won the toss following a lengthy delay for rain, with Durham needing to win to secure a place in the knockout stages. With Yorkshire being defeated by Warwickshire, the abandonment at Old Trafford signalled the end of Durham's One-Day Cup campaign.

Defeat against Worcestershire meant that Lancashire were unable to progress from the group stages, with the Red Rose county suffering elimination from both one-day tournaments in the space of 48 hours. Lancashire return to action on Thursday when they travel to Southampton for their next County Championship encounter against Hampshire.
