Anderson available for three Championship matches

England fast bowler James Anderson has been made available for Lancashire's first three Specsavers County Championship matches of 2016.

Anderson, who is part of a 14-man squad currently taking on Somerset in a three-day friendly, will be available for Lancashire's opening fixture against Nottinghamshire at Emirates Old Trafford, before making a return to the west country to play Somerset in the four-day contest.

The final game that the England paceman will be available for is Lancashire's hosting of Hampshire on May 8, meaning that the Red Rose county will have two current international bowlers in the squad when Kiwi Neil Wagner arrives in England.

A seam attack including Anderson, Wagner and Zimbabwean Kyle Jarvis, who took 62 wickets in four-day cricket last season, will give Lancashire a dangerous bowling attack in early-season conditions, with the bulk of their red-ball fixtures being played at Old Trafford, a ground which has been conducive to swing bowling over the last few seasons.

Anderson, who became England's all-time leading wicket taker last year, was available for the last two fixtures of the season in 2015 and he claimed his best figures in a Lancashire shirt against Essex when he collected figures of 7-77 at Chelmsford.

Wagner is expected to be available for selection when Lancashire travel to Cambridge for another pre-season friendly at Fenner's, while Tom Smith is being rested.
