First day wash-out in Bristol.
The covers were brought on after just ten overs at Bristol. |
Just ten overs were possible on the first day of Lancashire's penultimate Championship match with Gloucestershire before rain proved to get the better of most fixture's up and down the country.
Before the start of this match, Lancashire needed just 12 points to secure the Division Two title, following their rain-affected draw with Leicestershire in their final home game of the season, which saw them clinch promotion back to the first division of the four-day campaign.
Gloucestershire prospered from the limited amount of play at Bristol today, following the dismissal of two batsmen for no score, both falling to Will Gidman (2-17).
Ashwell Prince comprehensively lost his middle stump, and Paul Horton was adjudged to have been caught behind, much to the disgust of the Lancashire opener, who hi
t 156 in the visitors previous fixture at Old Trafford.
After an indifferent start, Karl Brown (20*) and remaining opener, Luis Reece (12*), who is in pursuit of an eighth consecutive fifty in this campaign, rebuilt Lancashire's innings before play was abandoned, with Lancashire closing on 33-2.
