Preview: Lancashire Lightning v Northamptonshire Steelbacks - NatWest T20 Blast

Lancashire Lightning have named a 15-man squad for their hosting of Northamptonshire Steelbacks at Emirates Old Trafford in the NatWest T20 Blast.

Ashley Giles' side enter this match on the back of a devastating defeat against rivals Yorkshire Vikings in the One-Day Cup, slumping to their heaviest defeat ever in List A cricket after being bowled out for 84 in less than 18 overs.

Yorkshire's 242-run victory, their biggest margin of success in limited-over cricket, means Lancashire have to come out fighting in a vital Twenty20 match against a Northants side who beat them by 76 runs in the One-Day Cup last Wednesday at Wantage Road.

Lancashire were successful in their last T20 outing, securing a nine-wicket win on D/L against Leicestershire Foxes, with Jordan Clark scoring 31 off 12 balls as a makeshift opener during the rain-affected clash. His performance with the bat has led to calls for him to retain his spot at the top of the order, alongside Martin Guptill, who was the only Lancashire batsmen to reach double figures during the embarrassing defeat against Yorkshire yesterday when he scored 45 from 25 deliveries.

The Steelbacks are on of the form sides of the North Group, having won three out of four group games this season, with their only defeat coming against table-toppers Worcestershire Rapids, who have won four out of their five matches in the T20 format. The last time these two sides met in the shortest format, Lancashire lifted the Twenty20 trophy at Edgbaston last August, beating Northants in the final by 13 runs.

Lancashire 15-man squad: Steven Croft (c), Jos Buttler (wk), Karl Brown, Nathan Buck, Jordan Clark, George Edwards, Martin Guptill, Arron Lilley, Liam Livingstone, Saqib Mahmood, Matthew Parkinson, Stephen Parry, Alviro Petersen, Luke Procter, Neil Wagner.

Northamptonshire 14-man squad: Alex Wakely (c), Moin Ashraf, Mohammad Azharullah, Josh Cobb, Ben Duckett, Rob Keogh, Steven Crook, Rob Newton, Adam Rossington (wk), Graeme White, Richard Gleeson, Ben Sanderson, Moin Ashraf, Saif Zaib.
