Preview: Lancashire Lightning v Nottinghamshire Outlaws - RLODC

Lancashire Lightning have named a 14-man squad, as they prepare to face Nottinghamshire Outlaws at Stanley Park, Blackpool in the Royal London One-Day Cup on Sunday.

The 50-over trip to Blackpool last season saw Lancashire record a tense two-wicket victory against Middlesex in a low-scoring affair, with Stephen Parry and Tom Bailey guiding the hosts to one of only three group wins last year.

It was not that long ago that Lancashire and Nottinghamshire met in white-ball cricket, although their NatWest T20 Blast match last week was marred by the fact that Lancashire were penalised for slow bowling, as they went on to lose by two wickets in a tense encounter at Trent Bridge.

Lancashire's inconsistent start to the tournament has seen Ashley Giles' side record a convincing 42-run win at home to Warwickshire Bears, but their most recent outing resulted in a humbling defeat at Wantage Road, when Northamptonshire Steelbacks won by 76 runs.

Meanwhile, Notts have been involved in two highly-entertaining matches at Trent Bridge, beating Warwickshire and Northants, scoring more than 400 on both occasions. Their opening 50-over match against the Steelbacks saw a record-breaking aggregate of 870 runs scored, with Michael Lumb (184) and Riki Wessels (146) both achieving career-best scores in the process.

Their opening partnership, worth 342 runs, set a new record for the most runs made by any partnership in one-day cricket in England, as the Outlaws set Northants an almighty target of 446. The visitors came within 20 runs of achieving a memorable victory, after Rory Kleinveldt hit 128 from 63 balls, but the Steelbacks followed their spirited run-chase with a comfortable win over Lancashire on home soil, as Graeme White recorded career-best figures of 6-37.

Lumb followed his highest List A score with a second successive century (133), sharing another healthy partnership with Wessels worth 178 runs, helping Nottinghamshire to score 415 against Warwickshire, who made 379 thanks to a hundred from Jonathan Trott.

Lancashire enter this fixture in high spirits after recording a vital nine-wicket win over Leicestershire Foxes in the Twenty20 competition, with Jordan Clark's all-round heroics playing a crucial role in a rain-affected match at Old Trafford.

Lancashire 14-man squad: Steven Croft (c), Nathan Buck, Karl Brown, Jos Buttler (wk), Jordan Clark, Rob Jones, Toby Lester, Liam Livingstone, Saqib Mahmood, Matthew Parkinson, Stephen Parry, Alviro Petersen, Luke Procter, Tom Smith.

Nottinghamshire 12-man squad: Dan Christian (c), Jake Ball, Luke Fletcher, Harry Gurney, Brett Hutton, Michael Lumb, Steven Mullaney, Samit Patel, Greg Smith, Brendan Taylor, Riki Wessels, Sam Wood.
