Preview: Lancashire Lightning v Yorkshire Vikings - RLODC

Lancashire Lightning have named a 15-man squad for their Royal London One-Day Cup Roses match against rivals Yorkshire Vikings at Emirates Old Trafford.

Entering this fixture on the back of a washout against Nottinghamshire Outlaws at Blackpool, Lancashire will be hoping for better weather when they take on their rivals in the 50-over competition. Alviro Petersen and Luke Procter both made half-centuries in the match at Stanley Park that ended as a no result, recording an unbroken partnership worth 151 runs before the rain fell.

Procter's fifty was the second hit by the all rounder in his last two 50-over matches for Lancashire, as the Red Rose county reached 157/1 against the Outlaws. The stand between Petersen and Procter set a record in List A cricket for the second wicket partnership at Blackpool, but rain ruined what promised to be an interesting game against Nottinghamshire, who started the contest with two scores of more than 400.

Martin Guptill returns to the squad after being sideline by a minor shoulder injury, with his return coinciding with the arrival of countryman Kane Williamson, who scored 2,633 runs for New Zealand in 2015 across all three formats. Both Guptill and Williamson have been named in New Zealand's Test side, with the selection of Neil Wagner leaving Lancashire short in the County Championship.

When Lancashire and Yorkshire met in the NatWest T20 Blast at the start of the month, it was the Red Rose who prevailed by 26 runs after Liam Livingstone hit Lancashire's fastest Twenty20 fifty in 21 balls. The four-day meeting at Headingley at the end of May saw the two-time current county champions breeze past Lancashire, recording a 175-run victory.

Yorkshire enter this fixture fresh from a two-wicket victory against Northamptonshire, with Adam Lyth's century helping the Tykes to score 314/8 inside 48 overs. This was Yorkshire's first victory of the campaign in three matches, with Lancashire's opening win over Warwickshire Bears giving Ashley Giles' side the same record in the One-Day Cup this season.
