50-over misery continues for Lancs.

Parry's figures of 3-23 were not enough to earn Lancs victory.
Lancashire suffered their fifth defeat of the Royal London one-day cup in a rain-affected match against Northamptonshire Steelbacks by a 19-run margin on D/L.

Rain had hit Manchester hard prior to the start of play, reducing the match to 40 overs per side.

Northants made a positive start thanks to Richard Levi, who scored 68 off 43 balls to help the visitors reach 80/0 after ten overs.

Levi reached his half-century in just 31 balls with 10 fours as Lancashire's decision to bowl first backfired.

But the hosts fought their way back into contention through the efforts of spin duo, Stephen Parry (3-23) and Steven Croft (1-29) as the pair stemmed the flow of runs and collected useful wickets at regular intervals.

The Steelbacks had reached 87 before losing their first wicket after 11 overs. However, the next 29 overs saw them add just 113 runs at a rate of 3.8 runs per over.

Lancashire therefore required 201 to win but could only reach 47/3 before further rain fell at Old Trafford.

Maurice Chambers claimed all three wickets in five overs, finishing with figures of 3-29 as Northants won their second match of the campaign.
