Adams record haunts Lancashire once more.

Adams (left) claimed 4-45 as Nottinghamshire dominated the opening day at Aigburth.
Andre Adams continued his imperious bowling record against Lancashire, as he claimed 4-45 to help Nottinghamshire bowl the hosts out for 225.

Adams has now taken 29 wickets in his last six innings against the Red Rose county and he guided the visitors towards a successful first at Liverpool.

Lancashire were asked to bat first in unfavourable conditions and stumbled to 45-4 after falling victim to appreciable swing movement.

Steven Croft (31) and Jos Buttler steadied the innings with an 80-run stand either side of lunch, but Lancashire failed to register a sizeable total.

On a day when Simon Kerrigan was named in England's Test team, Buttler furthered his cause for a place alongside the left-arm spinner, scoring his fifth half-century of the campaign as he top-scored for the hosts with 52.

Runs proved hard to come by as the Nottinghamshire seamers profited from the swinging conditions and the visitors responded with 69/1 at close of play to ensure they finished the first day in the driving seat.

Late-order runs aided Lancashire’s cause for a respectable first-innings total, with captain Glen Chapple adding 38 in just 48 deliveries in a typically brisk stay at the crease, complimented by Tom Smith who played with more patience for his 32.

Lancashire might have reached a more significant score, but Nottinghamshire removed the final six wickets for 100 after Chapple and Smith had made a 50 partnership.

After posting a fairly modest total of 225 all out, Lancashire responded well by claiming the wicket of Alex Hales (8) after the Nottinghamshire opener was trapped lbw by Kyle Hogg.

However, the hosts were left ruing missed opportunities as Steven Mullaney (48*), a former member of the Lancashire team, was dropped three times throughout his innings, the easiest of these chances falling to Kabir Ali at mid-on early on in the Nottinghamshire innings.
