Preview: Lancashire v Hampshire - Specsavers CC

Lancashire have named a 12-man squad for their Specsavers County Championship match against Hampshire, starting on Sunday at Emirates Old Trafford.

Following their high-scoring draw against Somerset this week, Ashley Giles's side will be hoping to return to winning ways, with Old Trafford producing a victory for the Red Rose in their opening four-day clash against Nottinghamshire.

Despite only managing to draw at Taunton, Lancashire will feel that they played the better cricket across the four days and there were certainly positives to take from the game. Lancashire made 493/9 declared in their first and only innings, with contributions coming from most batsmen, most notably Liam Livingstone, who hit his first hundred for the Club in only his second first-class appearance.

Even with four international-class bowlers at their disposal, Lancashire were unable to extract any fortune from a lifeless wicket at Taunton, with Neil Wagner in particular struggling to find any rhythm after he took 11 wickets on debut against Notts.

Having played one fewer game than all other teams in the first division, promoted Lancashire will be extremely happy with how they have performed on their return to the top flight, with their upcoming game against Hampshire offering them the possibility of a second win in three matches.

Hampshire are yet to record a victory in any of their first three Championship outings this season, drawing all three of these games, while Lancashire have the opportunity to go top of the table, assuming other results are in their favour.

There is no Tom Smith in Lancashire's squad, although the former Club captain is in the process of making a comeback, as he continues to impress in the Lancashire Second Team, scoring a match-winning 66 as they beat Derbyshire by one run this week.

Lancashire 12-man squad: Steven Croft (c), James Anderson, Tom Bailey, Karl Brown, Alex Davies (wk), Haseeb Hameed, Kyle Jarvis, Simon Kerrigan, Liam Livingstone, Alviro Petersen, Luke Procter, Neil Wagner.

Hampshire 13-man squad: James Vince (c), Jimmy Adams, Michael Carberry, Tom Alsop, Will Smith, Liam Dawson, Adam Wheater (wk), Ryan McLaren, Gareth Andrew, Tino Best, Mason Crane, Brad Wheal, James Tomlinson.
