Record breaking Lancashire blast their way to top spot.

Having been put into bat by the home captain Lancashire made a good start to their innings with Tom Smith making 30 off 20 balls including 5x4s and a 6, before being dismissed by Saeed Ajmal (1-34).

This brought Karl Brown to the wicket who shared a 60 run partnership with Ashwell Prince, the pair scored freely as the ball seemed to come onto the bat well. Brown was eventually dismissed for 29 from 16 deliveries caught by Russell form the bowling of Munro (2-37).

Ashwell Prince was joined at the crease by Jos Buttler, the pair were able to keep the score moving at in excess of 10 an over thanks to some powerful shots from Buttler. Jos was eventually dismissed for 55 from just 28 balls thanks to a superb catch on the boundary by D’Oliveria who was able to throw the ball back into play and complete the catch before his momentum took him over the rope.

Prince (68) was run out shortly after with the score on 198 thanks to some sharp fielding again by D’Oliveria. The Lancashire innings was finished off by Steven Croft (29) and Jordan Clark (2) who put on a further 31 runs.

The last over of the innings was hit for 24 runs boosting Lancashire to a new highest score of 229-4 in T20 competition.

Worcester made a strong start to their chase with Daryl Mitchell (46) and Richard Oliver (44) sharing 90 runs for the first wicket whilst keeping up with the required rate. The first wicket to fall was Mitchell who was stumped by Buttler from the bowling of Croft (2-30). Munro (28) joined Oliver at the wicket and kept the scoreboard ticking over.

Oliver was the next man to go caught by Parry from the bowling of Croft again with the score on 116.

Wickets continued to fall from this moment on and the required rate began to climb as the new men seemed to struggle to find the boundary.

Kohler-Cadmore (9) smashed Flintoff for a six before being bowled going for another big hit.
Whiteley (3) was bowled by Junaid Khan (1-26) and Munro (28) also bowled this time by Ali (2-30) to leave the Rapids at 152-5.

Kervezee (6) was the next man to fall caught by Brown off the bowling of Flintoff (2-36). Shortly followed by Cox (6) who was bowled by Ali with the score now at 163-7.

With rain starting to fall D’Oliveria (5) and Shantry (12) faced out the final few overs to leave Worcester on 179-7 from their 20 overs.

Lancashire’s 50 run victory leapfrogged them above Worcester in the league table. The Lightning now sit 2 points clear with the best net run rate and have all but booked their Quarter Final spot with 3 games to play.
